Cast Iron Skillet Cook-Off at Ft. Gaines

All Day Event

Get ready for a unique and tasty culinary experience as up to 30 teams vie for top honors in an epic Surf ‘n Turf Battle at historic Fort Gaines on TBD, sponsored by Alabama Coasting and the South Mobile County Tourism Authority! The Cast Iron Skillet Cook-Off is part of Alabama Coasting’s Bama-Q-Grilling Series and the winning team will receive a Golden Ticket to the World Food Championships in Dallas, TX.

 

Additional programming includes a People’s Choice sampling contest, cooking demonstrations, a local vendor’s market, and historic culinary presentations. Regular Fort Gaines admission fee required.

Flora-Bama Polar Bear Dip

12:00 PM to 3:00 PM

After celebrating New Year’s Eve at the Flora-Bama there is only one way to start the new year …. by taking a plunge into the Gulf of Mexico with a few thousand of your friends.

 

The Flora-Bama Polar Bear Dip is THE event of New Year’s Day along the gulf coast. Groups and families gather in costumes, swimsuits, and some even in wet suits to feel the brisk saltwater on their faces.

 

Take a dip in the Gulf of Mexico at high noon. Those who fully submerge will get a free draft beer and a free New Year’s lunch of ham, black-eyed peas, greens, and cornbread. Admission is free.

 

Holly Days on Main at The Wharf

Holly Days on Main is returning to The Wharf.  When it comes to Christmas, we do it right in paradise! You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, so call all your friends and join us this season for the 3rd Annual Holly Days on Main Festival.

Guests can enjoy arts and crafts vendors, special performances, a lighted boat parade and more. It’s guaranteed to be two days of jam-packed holiday fun thanks to the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber.

Flora-Bama Annual Oktoberfest

Oct 9 (Flora-Bama)

Break out your lederhosen for the Flora-Bama’s Oktoberfest! Receive a free drink upon entry for those 21 and up, free stein to the early arrivers ( until depleted), 25% off in the gift shop, and complimentary German food from the buffet (while supplies last). Food is served at 4pm and the menu includes Beer Brats, Sauerkraut, and German Potato Salad. The stein hoisting competition sponsored by Samuel Adams will begin at 5pm.
We have a FREE stein to those who participate in the stein hoisting contest. Followed by live music by The Brats at 4pm in the Bama Dome. This New Orleans based polka band will have you laughing and dancing all evening!

The Annual National Shrimp Festival

Oct 6 – 9 (Gulf Shores) – Starting @ 10:00am

Savor fresh from the Gulf seafood at the Annual National Shrimp Festival during this four-day event that attracts over 300,000 people. The festival will play host to more than 100 hours of musical entertainment featuring a lineup of national, regional, and local acts. There will be musical acts to please all palates, including blues, Motown, southern rock, jazz, zydeco, and country. The music plays daily Thursday through Sunday.

Food is another highlight of the festival with 50 local and regional vendors lining the boardwalk at the public beach with mouth-watering delights. Art lovers will have almost 200 booths of fine art and arts and crafts vendors from which to choose. ADMISSION IS FREE.

Orange Beach Freedom Fest

Sept 30 – Oct 2 (Orange Beach) @ 9:00am – 5:00pm

The 2nd Annual Orange Beach Freedom Festival will be held on Friday, Sept. 30 to Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022. It will be a true, down-home celebration of America with a car show, concerts, special speakers, arts & crafts, children’s activities, food… just an All-American red, white and blue weekend in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Mark your calendar as the planned schedule for Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. will include arts & crafts and food vendors, entertainment, children’s activities and a fall edition of Bama Coast Cruisin’. A Friday night concert is planned at The Wharf Amphitheatre. On Saturday only, The Marshals will hold the 2nd Annual Let Freedom Roar Run and Rally with a motorcycle and Jeep parade around noon, benefitting Youth Reach Gulf Coast. The Marshal group will stage in the Event Center parking lot and in the marina parking lot and lawn. Then on Sunday, Oct. 2, a full afternoon of activities, including a special keynote speaker and benefit concert, is being planned for the Amphitheater at The Wharf. Admission is free.
